1. Overview
The EnvirON Hub is the central part of the EnvirON system. It lets you control TVs and other infra‑red devices using EnvirON switches, remotes, or the EnvirON App on an iPhone or iPad. It works by converting wireless commands into infra‑red signals that your TV understands.
This guide explains what the Hub does, how to set it up, and how to solve common problems, using clear, step‑by‑step instructions.
The EnvirON Hub acts as a bridge between:
- EnvirON input devices (such as wireless switches and scanning remotes)
- The EnvirON App on iPhone or iPad
- Infra‑red devices such as TVs
Most EnvirON systems need a Hub. It receives wireless commands and sends the correct infra‑red signal to the TV or entertainment device.
- EnvirON Hub - the central controller that sends infrared (IR) signals or mains control.
- EnvirON App (iOS) - customisable interface for iPad/iPhone users.
- EnvirON Scanning Remote - switch-accessible remote for IR control.
- EnvirON Wireless Switches - available in different sizes and colours.
- iClick Mains Controller - for controlling plug-in devices (lamps, fans, etc).
3. Who's it for?
- Disabled learners who need alternative ways to control a TV
- Teachers and support staff setting up environmental control
- Parents and carers supporting TV access at home
- Therapists and AT professionals building EnvirON systems
4. What's in the box?
- EnvirON Hub
- Universal wall power adapter
- Infra‑Red Chart (paper chart for planning codes)
- Manufacturer instructions
5. Before you start
- Make sure the TV or Hi-Fi remote works properly and has good batteries
- Decide which functions you want to control (for example power, volume, channel)
- Keep the Infra‑Red Chart nearby and fill it in first
- Choose a place where the Hub can stay in clear line‑of‑sight with the device you're controlling
6. Setting up the EnvirON Hub
- Attach the correct plug pins to the wall adapter.
- Plug the adapter into the wall socket.
- Plug the power lead into the Hub.
- Check that the Power LED lights up.
- Place the Hub so the front infra‑red LEDs face the TV directly.
Step 2: Plan your infra‑red codes
The Hub can store 24 infra‑red codes:
- Codes 1–16: single actions (for example Volume Up)
- Codes 17–24: macros (up to 4 button presses, such as 1‑0‑1)
- Which TV function goes in each code number
- Which codes will be macros
Step 3: Learn single TV remote codes
- Hold the TV remote about 20 cm from the Hub.
- Keep both devices out of direct sunlight.
- Turn the TV off at the wall if possible (to avoid accidental changes).
- Press Code until the display shows the code number you want.
- Press Learn – the Learn LED lights green.
- Press and hold the matching button on the TV remote.
- Keep holding until the green LED goes out.
Repeat for all single‑function codes.
Macros let one press send several digits.
Example: Channel 101- Set the display to code 17.
- Press Learn (green LED on).
- Press and hold 1 on the TV remote.
- Wait for the green LED to light again.
- Press and hold 0.
- Wait again, then press and hold 1.
- If no more digits are needed, press Learn to finish.
- Some TVs need each digit pressed twice (for example 1‑1‑0‑0‑1‑1).
- Follow the LED prompts carefully.
Step 5: Test your codes
- Turn the TV on.
- Use Code to select a stored code.
- Press and hold Test.
- Check the TV responds correctly.
Step 6: Pair EnvirON switches and remotes
You can pair up to 6 EnvirON devices.
- Press Pair on the Hub.
- While the pairing LED flashes, press Pair on the EnvirON device.
- The LED stays on when pairing is successful.
Step 7: Pair the EnvirON App (optional)
If using the EnvirON App:
- Open the App on iPhone or iPad.
- Go to Settings → Connection.
- Select the Hub from the device list.
- The Hub Power LED changes colour when connected.
The Hub must always be present when using the app

9. Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I use multiple switches with one Hub?
Yes. The Hub supports multiple wireless switches and can assign each to a different output or action.
Q: Does the Hub need Wi-Fi?
No. EnvirON uses RF and Bluetooth. No internet connection is required.Q: Is the system compatible with Alexa or Google Home?
Not currently. EnvirON is designed for local, accessible control rather than smart home integration.Q: Can I control mains-powered devices?
Yes - using the iClick Mains Controller, you can switch mains appliances on/off via Hub, switches, or app.Q: Can I back up my setup?
In the app, use the export/import function to save or transfer button layouts and configurations.10. Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Possible cause | What to try |
| No lights on Hub | No power | Check wall power socket |
| Switch or remote does nothing | Not paired | Re‑pair device with Hub |
| TV does not respond | Wrong infra‑red code | Check Infra‑Red Chart and re‑learn code |
| App doesn’t control TV | Hub not connected | Pair App with Hub in Settings |
| App buttons don’t work | Wrong button setup | Check button assignments in App |
| App won’t control other EnvirON devices | Hub not powered | Ensure Hub is plugged in |
