1. Overview

BJOY Ring wireless is a USB device that converts your wheelchair's joystick into a mouse to control your computer and compatible tablets and smartphones wirelessly. It gives users full control of a computer, tablet, or communication device by moving their joystick as if it were a standard mouse.

The device is designed to support users who already have good control of their wheelchair joystick and want to use the same movement to interact with digital technology.

  • The ring fits around your wheelchair joystick
  • Tilting the joystick moves the on-screen pointer
  • External switches are used for left-click, right-click, and other actions
  • A wireless transmitter sends signals to a USB receiver
  • Settings are stored on the device, not the computer

BJOY Ring Wireless can also be used with a cable instead of wirelessly if needed.

2. Key features

  • Wireless Mouse Control – transforms a wheelchair joystick into a Bluetooth mouse.
  • Plug & Play – simple setup, no drivers required.
  • Customisable Settings – pointer speed, dwell click options, and button assignments can be configured.
  • Rechargeable Battery – charges via USB, with long usage time.
  • Compact & Portable – lightweight and easy to attach/remove from a wheelchair joystick.
  • Switch Input - includes two configurable switch ports for mouse-clicks

The detection ring is connected to a transmitter paired to the receiver, which is plugged to the device that you want to control.

Each transmitter can be paired up to 4 receivers to be used with different devices or in different places.

3. Who's it for?

BJOY Ring Wireless is suitable for:
  • Wheelchair users who want computer or tablet access
  • Learners who cannot use a standard mouse or trackpad
  • Switch users who need joystick-based cursor movement
  • Schools, homes, and therapy settings

4. What's in the box?

The BJOY Ring Wireless kit includes:
  • Ring (joystick adapter)
  • Rubber protector (must always be fitted)
  • Wireless emitter (transmitter)
  • USB receiver (pre-paired)
  • Fixing wrench
  • USB extension cable with desktop base
  • Micro-USB cable (charging / wired use)
  • USB power supply

5. Before you start

Before fitting the ring:
  • Turn off and disconnect the wheelchair
  • Make sure the joystick is stable and secure
  • Choose a mounting position with less than 45° tilt
  • Do not force screws or fittings

6. Setting up

1. Mount the ring on the joystick
  1. Remove the joystick grip (and protective cap if fitted).
  2. Slide the ring onto the joystick shaft.
  3. Align the two screws at the top so they face the forward direction of travel.
  4. If this exact position is not possible, rotate in 90° steps only.
  5. Tighten gently using the supplied wrench (do not overtighten).
  6. Fit the rubber protector.
  7. Re-fit the joystick grip.
⚠️ If the ring is mounted at other angles, cursor movement will not work correctly.

2. Position the emitter (transmitter)
  • Mount away from metal parts
  • Avoid other electronic devices that may cause interference
  • Keep the charging port accessible
  • Protect from liquids
  • Secure the cable to prevent snagging or pulling

3. Connect the receiver
  • Plug the USB receiver into your computer
  • Use the USB extension cable with base so the receiver is visible
  • Avoid plugging directly into the back of a PC tower if possible
  • Keep away from metal surfaces
The receiver supplied is already paired with the emitter.

7. Charging the battery
  1. Connect the micro-USB cable to the emitter.
  2. Plug into a USB port or the supplied charger.

LED behaviour during charging:

  • Red LED flashing → charging
  • Red LED solid → fully charged
  • LED off → cable disconnected
Full charge time: around 4–5 hours
For daily use, charging once per day is recommended.

8. First time startup

  1. Fully charge the emitter.
  2. Mount the ring and connect the receiver.
  3. Plug in any switches if used.
  4. Press reset on the emitter using a non-sharp object.
  5. During the beep sequence, do not move the joystick.
  6. Install and open the BJOY configuration software.
  7. Run calibration to optimise cursor movement.

9. Using the product

Moving the cursor
  • Move the wheelchair joystick to move the on-screen pointer
  • Behaviour depends on calibration and software settings
If the cursor drifts slightly when not touching the joystick:
  • Deactivate and reactivate the device
  • Or increase Minimum Inclination in the software

Clicking with switches
Two 3.5 mm switch inputs are provided:
  • Input A → Left click (default)
  • Input B → Right click (default)
These functions can be changed in the BJOY software.

Dwell click (click by waiting)
If enabled:
  • Holding the cursor still triggers a left click
  • You can adjust the waiting time in the software
This can help users who cannot press switches reliably.

    10. Activating and deactivating the device

    Deactivating (turning cursor movement off)
You can deactivate BJOY Ring in several ways:
    • Using a switch (A or B)
    • Using the software button
    • Automatically after inactivity
    • When no receiver is in range
    When deactivated:
    • Cursor does not move
    • Battery use is reduced
    • LEDs are off

    Activating (turning cursor movement on)
    Activation can be done by:
    1. Pressing any connected switch
    2. Performing the joystick gesture (moving through all four directions)
⚠️ When activation starts, a beep sequence plays. Do not move the joystick during beeps.

    11. Using more than one computer or tablet

    • One emitter can pair with up to 4 receivers
    • Receivers can be in different rooms or locations
    • The emitter connects automatically when in range
Switching between receivers in the same room
    You can switch by:
    • Performing the joystick gesture
    • Or double-clicking switch input B (if enabled)
A triple beep confirms an attempted change.

    12. Using with a cable

You can connect the emitter directly to a device using the USB cable. When used this way:
    • Wireless mode is disabled
    • Battery charges while connected
    • Only the connected device can be controlled

      13. Configuration software

You can download the configuration software from Qinera's website here.

      This allows you to:

      • Adjust the pointer's speed, sensitivity and auditory feedback to suit the user's needs.
      • Easily orient the device to suit the user's posture.
      • Decide which of the following actions each button will perform: left click, right click, drag & drop, double-click or nothing.
      • Set the required press time to be considered as a valid press.
      • Set the drag & drop option as a long press on any button.
      • Configure the joystick to move in 4 or 8 directions to improve access for people with imprecise movements.

      14. Operating system compatibility

      • Windows
      • Linux
      • Android
      • Chrome OS
      • Mac OS
      • iOS
