1. Overview

The GoTalk Lite Touch range consists of three simple, recorded-message communication aids. You record short spoken messages onto buttons, then play them back with a light press. It is often used to support communication, choice making, and participation at home, school, or in therapy sessions.

This guide explains how to set it up, record messages, change levels, and avoid common problems.

There are three versions:

  • GoTalk 4+ Lite Touch
With four large message cells and 4.6 minutes total recording time.

  • GoTalk 9+ Lite Touch
With nine medium-sized message cells and 9 minutes total record time (15 seconds per core message, 10 seconds per button for 5 levels).

  • GoTalk 20+ Lite Touch
With 20 small message cells and 15 minutes total record time.

All three versions include:
  • 5 levels (giving lots of space for different activities)
  • 3 core vocabulary buttons that stay the same across all levels
  • Clear LED lights to show recording and level changes

Messages are recorded using your own voice.

2. Who's it for?

The GoTalk Lite Touch range is suitable for:

Each core vocabulary message can be up to 15 seconds long.

Core messages are persistent targets (e.g., “Yes”, “No”, “Help”) available across every level for quick, consistent access.

  3. Turn the unit on while holding Record.
  4. LEDs flash and the unit beeps.

⚠️ If the user is unable to record new messages or change the level, it's most likely due to accidental activation of the Record and Level locks. For quick reference, the process listed above is printed on the back of the device:

10. Overlays

GoTalk devices store overlay images internally, allowing them to slide in and out for quick customisation.

⚠️ If you laminate your overlays or place them in plastic wallets, ensure they are not too thick, as this may prevent proper contact with the touch-sensitive membrane underneath. This can result in the incorrect message (or no message at all being played).
