Please note: to use eyetuitive for iPadOS on Windows, you will need a magnet mount for external monitors. To request one (free of charge), please email [email protected].

3. Mounting options

To achieve reliable eye tracking, eyetuitive must be mounted securely - and because every user setup is different, we include two mounting plates to ensure compatibility with a variety of mounting options:

  • REHAdapt UDS - this option comes pre-attached to the iPad case and allows you to quickly clip the iPad and eye tracker onto any of REHAdapt's mounting solutions, including table stands, wheelchair mounts and floor stands.

The image below shows the device mounted to an arm using the REHAdapt UDS mounting system:

  • VESA 75x75mm - this mounting plate is included with the mounting kit. It allows you to attach the iPad and eye tracker onto any compatible VESA solution.

  • Magnet mount for external computer screens - please email [email protected] to request a magnetic mount if you wish to use eyetuitive for iPadOS on a Windows computer with an external monitor.

To attach the magnetic mount for external screens:

  1. Attach the mount to eyetuitive using the supplied M2.5 screws.
  2. Clean the lower bezel of your monitor with a suitable screen wipe.
  3. Remove the 3M tape backing.
  4. Press the mount firmly under the display for at least 30 seconds.

4. Eyetuitive app

The eyetuitive app is available for:

    • iPadOS (App Store)
    • Windows (Microsoft Store)

The following functions are set in the app:

    Positioning

Shows whether the user is within the track box and displays the distance to the eye tracker. The app header turns green when eyetuitive is connected and red when not connected.

    Calibration

    Two options:

    • Quick Calibration (faster, less accurate)
    • Accurate Calibration (more data points, recommended)

Users look at calibration points. After completion, the app shows percentage values and colour indicators for each point.

    Update

The app can install firmware updates. Updates are optional but recommended.

Typical update time: under 2 minutes.

    Settings

    Allows adjustment of:

    • Calibration settings
    • Device settings
    • Tracking with left eye only, right eye only, or both

Once positioning and calibration are completed, the app does not need to remain open unless recalibration is required.

    5. AssistiveTouch Setup (iPadOS)

Once eyetuitive is connected and calibrated on your iPad, the device works through Apple’s built-in accessibility feature AssistiveTouch. The following settings allow you to adjust how the pointer behaves, how selections are made, and how the device responds to eye movement. All of these options are accessed through the Accessibility settings on the iPad.

    Core Settings

In Settings → Accessibility → Touch → AssistiveTouch

Enable AssistiveTouch (eyetuitive will turn it on automatically when first connected).

    Device Settings

In AssistiveTouch → Devices → eyetuitive you can adjust:

    Smoothing

    Controls cursor responsiveness.

    • 0% = fast but jittery
    • Higher values = smoother but slower

    Snap to Item (iPadOS 17+)

Improves ease of selection by snapping the pointer to nearby UI elements.

    Auto-Hide

Automatically hides the pointer after a set time.

    Additional AssistiveTouch Tools

    Dwell Control

Select items simply by looking at them for a set duration. You can adjust:

    • Dwell time
    • Movement tolerance
    • Fallback actions

    Hot Corners

    Assign actions such as:

    • Home
    • App Switcher
    • Control Centre
    • Siri
    • Screenshot
    • Shortcuts

    Pointer Control

Settings → Accessibility → Pointer Control

Change pointer size and colour for better visibility.

    6. Positioning Guide

Correct positioning is essential for eyetuitive to track the user’s eyes accurately. The app provides clear visual feedback to show whether the eyes are detected and if the user is at an appropriate distance. The following guidance outlines how the user and device should be arranged to achieve the best tracking performance.

    Ideal Setup

    • Distance: 50–60 cm from the screen (max distance 75cm)
    • Eye tracker angled upwards at 20° or less
    • The user’s head parallel to the screen

    Tips

    • If the user is leaning left or right, tilt both the device and eye tracker by the same amount.
    • Ensure the front window of eyetuitive is clean and free from fingerprints.

    7. Calibration Tips

    • Accurate calibration is recommended for best results
    • Look at the centre of each calibration point
    • If calibration seems stuck, try moving slightly or blinking
    • After calibration, each point displays a percentage and colour indicator
    • Even without perfect scores, calibration may be acceptable if the cursor lands near the centre
    • Users may calibrate left eye, right eye, or both
    • Increasing system magnification (iPad Zoom or Windows scaling) may help users who struggle with calibration

    • Shape-writing
    • Scrolling
    • Dwell clicking

    Microsoft provides detailed official guides:
