1. Overview

iControl lets you control up to two battery‑powered devices from an iPad using on‑screen buttons in the free iClick app. It is often used for play, learning activities, and cause‑and‑effect tasks.

It switches connected devices on and off when you tap buttons on the iPad screen. With two output sockets, it can control one or two devices.

4. Before you start

  • Fully charge iControl before first use
  • Make sure your iPad is charged and updated
  • Download the iClick app from the Apple App Store (the QR code below will take you directly to the App Store download page)

    5. Setting up (step-by-step)

    1. Charge iControl
    1. Plug the supplied USB cable into iControl.
    2. Plug the other end into a powered USB socket.
    3. The charging LED lights green while charging.
    4. When the light goes out, charging is complete.
    You can use iControl while it is charging.

    2. Turn iControl on
    • Briefly press the power button.
    • The power LED lights to show the unit is on.

    3. Connect your devices
    1. Plug each battery‑powered device into one of the two output sockets.
    2. Turn the device itself on, if it has its own power switch.
    4. Connect to the iPad
    1. Open the iClick app.
    2. Go to Settings inside the app (not iPad Settings).
    3. Find your iControl using its 4‑character code (printed on the base).
    4. Tap the matching code on screen to connect.
    LED behaviour:
    • Power LED flashing = not connected
    • Power LED solid = connected and ready

    6. Using iControl

    • Once connected, tap the on‑screen buttons in the iClick app to turn devices on and off.
    • Whenever an output is active, the matching output LED lights up.
    • You can stop all outputs instantly at any time by tapping the stop icon in the app.

    7. Control modes (simple explanation)

    iControl offers seven modes in the app:


    Independent modes (3)
    • Each on‑screen button controls its own device
    • Useful when one person controls two different items

    Co‑operative modes (4)
    • Buttons work together to control devices
    • Useful for shared activities or turn‑taking
    Modes include:
    • Direct (on while pressed)
    • Latched (press once to turn on, again to turn off)
    • Timed (turns off automatically after a set time)
    Set modes inside the iClick app.

    8. Typical use cases

    • Activating toys for cause‑and‑effect learning
    • Simple games controlled from the iPad
    • Shared play activities using co‑operative modes
    • Timed activation for structured learning tasks

    9. Battery information

    • Around 40 hours of typical use per charge
    • Charging LED flashes orange when battery is low
    • Uses a standard mini‑USB charging cable

        10. Automatic and manual sleep

        Automatic sleep

        iControl goes to sleep:

        • After 1 hour of no use
        • After 5 minutes with no iPad connection
        Press the power button to wake it. It reconnects automatically.

        Manual sleep

        • Press and hold the power button until the power LED goes out.
        • Press again to wake.
